Kaitie Moves to Africa

Lumela!

So I know that everyone has been wondering when I was going to write my blog, and I apologize that it has taken me so long to write a new one since being back here. To be completely honest, this is not my favorite thing to do, and I feel like I put a lot of pictures up on Facebook that give everyone a little glimpse of what my life is like while I’m here. But, I also know that there are many people who follow my blog and do not have a Facebook, so for all of those who don’t, I apologize, and I will try to do a better job of keeping up with this!

So far it has been great being back! I have been able to hang out with all my friends again, and I have even managed to make a few new ones, hard for me, I know. 😉 It has also been great getting to see my kids again, I even had the chance to go back and visit everyone at Beautiful Gate!

Let me give you a little picture of what my weeks look like while I’m here working with Beautiful Dream Society. I usually work with Victory Church on Monday and Thursday morning, doing administrative work in the office, and then in the afternoon I am at the children’s home, tutoring the older kids and playing with the younger ones. On Tuesdays, I partner with an organization called Sepheo, and I travel to a village called Khubelu to tutor a young boy who used to be a street kid. Every Wednesday, we take the girls living in the shelter and we all go to church at lunch time, and then I am back at the kids home in the afternoon hanging out with my kids. We still do street ministry on Friday nights, and then Jordan (my roommate) and I usually have a house mom shift in the shelter with the girls on Saturday nights.

I definitely find ways to keep myself busy when I’m not working as well. This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend an amazing event called Worship Explosion. It was two days of getting to worship our Savior, in many different ways. I had a lot of friends who were in the band and who were singing for this event, so it meant a lot getting to be apart of that with them! We had the chance to take the girls from the shelter, and we even took the house mom and a couple kids from the children’s home as well!
