In February, Beautiful Dream Society Lesotho celebrated three women graduate from the BDS Dream Program. The three women who accepted their graduation certificates were not the same women who entered the BDS Dream Home three months prior.
On entry day, we welcomed women who were broken, hopeless, and had nowhere to turn. They were consumed by lies that they were unworthy, unlovable, unacceptable, and incapable. Yet, even through the pain and hurt of what they had experienced, they were determined to make a better life for themselves and their children. “Thank you for taking me out of the situation I was in,” said one of our graduates. “Keep on helping other women like us.”
As weeks went by, they gained strength, drive, and a new self-perception through their diligent participation in Beautiful Dream Society’s program opportunities. “I am truly thankful for the help that I got here,” said another woman on her graduation day. “It’s been a powerful help for my life.” These victims of abuse realized the truth: they are worthy, lovable, acceptable, and capable. That’s what we celebrated on graduation day: an amazing transformation!
