Beautiful Dream Society continues to fight against human trafficking in Lesotho by providing prevention, protection, and rehabilitation programs in partnership with all stakeholders. A few years ago, a news article was published, bringing the discussion of rape in Lesotho to light, along with saddening statistics:
“According to a United Nations study conducted in 2015, Lesotho has the highest rape rate in the world, with 61 percent of women reporting having experienced sexual violence at some point in their lives.”
Lesotho also had a rate of 88.6 rape cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 2011, according to a UN report.
We help survivors and potential victims, including minors, in many ways.
This year, we took in a young girl who was sexually assaulted by someone close to her. Before being left homeless, she was brought to us for love, support, medical care, and shelter.
When she arrived, she was very distraught, heartbroken, and traumatized. Since then, she has made significant improvements academically and mentally throughout the year. We are so grateful and relieved that she was referred to us, and we look forward to watching her continue to succeed.
It is our duty to love and protect our children, and you can help! All donations make a huge impact. Currently, we are working on a project to build children’s homes.
