Family reunion after human trafficking

Imagine being ripped from your family so young that you don’t even know they exist. Instead of building core memories around the dinner table, your memories are rooted in an unfamiliar land. Such is the case for millions of children who get trafficked every year.

Approximately 4% of trafficking victims are 0-8 years old. Some are born into trafficking; others are taken from a life of poverty. They all experience life-long effects because of their trauma.

But not every story has a sad ending. BDS Children’s Home recently reunited a young girl named Libuseng with her long-lost family.

Ever since she heard about her family’s existence, Libuseng’s life has been filled with joy and hope. She has reintegrated with her siblings and claimed her role as the family mediator. She has plans to meet her aunt when their schedules align, and she looks forward to the next chapter in her life.

Among her siblings at home, Libuseng makes sure that everybody completes their chores on time. She specializes in resolving issues between her siblings. Whenever her brothers and sisters have disagreements, she steps in to bring peace and understanding.

These skills will provide a solid foundation for Libuseng’s future. She says she wants to become a social worker so she can help other people going through difficult times. She will not let her past hold her back from a happy, fulfilling life.

Libuseng has grown into a smart, energetic, and full-of-life teenager who is determined and always striving for excellence. At school, her teachers are always praising her for her commitment and hard work. She is part of the school English club and won the regional spelling bee competition this past month.

One of the BDS partners took the mothers and the children on a flight at Mission Aviation fellowship. It was a short flight where they flew over Maseru City. This was Libuseng’s first time flying, and she loved it! She has a fear of heights, but she was willing to overcome it for the experience.

The team here at Beautiful Dream Society is grateful to God for His grace and protection over Libuseng’s life. We can’t wait to see what He has in store for her.
