At Beautiful Dream Society, our childcare programs and children’s homes provide safety and nurture growth and development in every child we serve. This past year has been filled with remarkable achievements and heartwarming stories of success, demonstrating the impact of our dedicated care and the resilience of the children in our programs.
Building on talent
Our commitment to nurturing each child’s unique talents has seen extraordinary outcomes. This year, six of our older children had the opportunity to build their musical skills by participating in music school. At this venue, they could express themselves and develop their artistic talents. Meanwhile, another six younger children took to the tennis courts during the holidays, engaging in physical activity that boosts their health and teaches discipline and sportsmanship.
One shining moment came when one of our children secured second place in the National Spelling Bee. This achievement is a testament to his hard work and dedication and to the supportive environment of our homes that encourages academic excellence.
Reuniting families
Beyond individual achievements, we have made significant strides in reconnecting children with their families. Recently, we successfully traced the family of a boy who grew up in our homes, and we are planning a reunification soon with the guidance of Social Development. This careful process ensures that reunifications are conducted in the child’s best interest, providing them with the chance to grow up in a loving family environment.
This year, we also welcomed two sisters into our childcare program. Their journey to us was born out of tragedy—having lost their mother to domestic violence perpetrated by their stepfather. Since their arrival, they have been fully integrated into our educational programs and are receiving ongoing psychosocial support to help them adjust and heal from their traumatic experiences.
Supporting caregivers
Recognizing caregivers’ crucial role in children’s holistic development, we have implemented regular counseling sessions for them. These sessions are held as a group and individually, providing necessary support to address their challenges and enhancing their ability to offer the best care.
We also held an award ceremony to celebrate the house mothers and children, acknowledging their efforts in various areas of life, such as building relationships and maintaining personal hygiene. These awards are a small but significant way to encourage and recognize the hard work and dedication that permeates our homes.
The success of our childcare and children’s homes is made possible by the generous support of donors and volunteers who believe in our mission. By supporting BDS, you are helping to provide a nurturing environment for more children to grow, learn, and thrive.
