Providing Safe Refuge and Support to Human Trafficking Survivors
Many girls and women are victimized by human trafficking, bearing the brunt of political unrest, poverty, and disease. We embrace these women and girls by providing shelter, food, clothing, and emotional, legal, psychological, and spiritual support in a safe, trauma-informed home environment. At Beautiful Dream Society, we recognize the immediate and critical need for safe refuge for survivors of human trafficking and sexual assault. Our Anti-Trafficking Crisis Care Shelter in Maseru, Lesotho, offers a sanctuary where women and their dependent children can start their journey toward healing and recovery in a secure and supportive environment.
Holistic Approach
Understanding that recovery from trauma requires more than just meeting physical needs, our trained staff delivers trauma-informed care tailored to the individual goals of each resident. From the moment they enter the shelter, survivors receive comprehensive support designed to address their unique situations.
About our Shelter
BDS operates a Lesotho government-certified, 24-hour emergency shelter for female victims of human sex trafficking and their dependent children in Maseru, Lesotho, Africa. Referrals come from multiple sources, such as law enforcement, healthcare agencies, and individual community members. In the home, women and their children receive shelter, food, and clothing.
Trained staff provide trauma-informed care while helping the individual or child accomplish their goals. BDS partners with the community to facilitate individual needs, such as medical care, mental health care, and further education and vocational opportunities. The length of stay for the women and girls varies and is determined on a case-by-case basis. Each resident chooses their own personal plan for safety, determines their course of action, and receives assistance as needed in creating a transition plan to resume a healthy, fulfilling life beyond their time in the Crisis Care Shelter.
