Human trafficking survivor to speak at fundraising banquet

Mojabeng Mosebo was skeptical but excited when she received an invitation for a ‘lucrative’ job offer in South Africa. It was 2009, and the then 30-year-old mother of two was in a deep financial crisis. An opportunity to work for a prestigious clothing store was exactly what she needed to restart her life.

When Mojabeng left her hometown of Maseru, Lesotho, for the job interview, she had no idea her journey would lead to a Japanese prison. Mojabeng spent three years in the crossfires of human trafficking, where she was used as a drug mule to smuggle illegal substances across borders.

She faced trauma after trauma, peril after peril, but she never lost hope for a brighter future. Now Mojabeng advocates against human trafficking and is “a voice for the voiceless.”

Mojabeng Mosebo to share her story

Mojabeng will be coming to Oklahoma in February to share the harrowing details of her journey. We have invited her to speak at the “One Beautiful Evening” fundraising event. Mojabeng is a beautiful example of how tragedy can lead to triumph. She’ll explain how her trauma has emboldened her to lead the fight against human trafficking in Lesotho and South Africa.

Mojabeng currently serves as the Executive Director over 24 staff members at Beautiful Dream Society’s ministry in Lesotho. BDS operates the only shelter for victims of human trafficking and minor victims of sexual assault in the entire country, as well as the BDS Children’s Homes for orphans and vulnerable children.

How you can make a difference in Lesotho

Lesotho, a nation with its own unique beauty and culture, faces several intertwined challenges that deeply impact its people. From the orphan crisis to the AIDS epidemic, from crippling poverty to the dark shadow of human trafficking, these issues don’t just exist in isolation; they exacerbate one another, creating a cycle of suffering for many. But that doesn’t have to be the case forever.

Mpolokeng’s journey from survivor to scholar

In a world where gender-based violence continues to cast a long shadow over impoverished nations, Mpolokeng’s story serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration. Mpolokeng went from being a survivor of assault to a determined college student, and her journey is a testament to the power of resilience, support, and restoration.

End human trafficking.
