Nurturing hope

At BDS Children’s Home, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment for children in need. Our program focuses on their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, ensuring each child receives the care and support they deserve. Let’s explore the various aspects that contribute to the success of our program and how we strive to impact the children and mothers in our care positively.

Welcoming and caring for new children

Our program prides itself on welcoming new children into our home and providing for them. Every child brings unique stories and needs, and we are dedicated to continuously addressing them with compassion and care. We recently added four children from Beautiful Gate, bringing our total to 16.

We want to ensure that all the children and mothers at BDS have access to everything they need to develop properly. We supply food and cosmetics to our now 16 children and three moms, which helps us create a healthy and caring environment for them. Our three mothers are crucial in teaching and encouraging the children to prepare wholesome meals, instilling valuable life skills, and promoting good nutrition.

Physical and spiritual health

The health and wellness of our children is fundamental to us. We provide all the necessary medications to prevent common illnesses and treat existing conditions. We also provide regular medical check-ups and specialized care. We recently took a girl to an optician because she had trouble seeing and reading notes off a chalkboard.

We believe in nurturing our children’s physical, spiritual, and emotional health. Daily devotionals and Sunday church services provide a source of faith and community. We even invite missionaries and prayer partners to speak to the children. This month, our missionaries from Victory Church visited our children. They shared the gospel, played games with the children, and left them with gifts.

Educational support

We believe in the power of a good education and make it a cornerstone of our program. Even during school breaks, we ensure our children continue their academic journey. Five of our high school students have been spending time in classes with a private tutor to improve their grades in challenging subjects.

Beyond school, we strive to expose our children to cultural heritage. We take our children on field trips, such as our recent one to Thaba Bosiu, to provide valuable learning experiences about history and culture.

At the BDS Children’s Home, our approach to care encompasses every aspect of a child’s development. From health and nutrition to education and spiritual growth, we strive to provide a nurturing environment where children can thrive. Our dedicated team and supportive community work together to create a place of hope, love, and opportunity for all our children and mothers.

The impact of a safe environment

Here at BDS, we witness many life changes. We see children come from all backgrounds and from all kinds of brokenness. We take them in and care for them. We watch them grow and transform into the best versions of themselves. One of these amazing stories comes from a child that we will call Lerato.

Beyond the shelter: nurturing long-term well-being

At Beautiful Dream Society, we believe that true healing begins when basic needs are met, which is why our mission extends far beyond the immediate care provided within the walls of our anti-trafficking shelter. We are committed to nurturing the long-term well-being of survivors of human trafficking, offering them hope and practical support as they rebuild their lives in Maseru, Lesotho.

End human trafficking.
